              Lockwood Electric Mortice Locks (EML)

              The Lockwood Electric Mortice Lock is a purpose-built solution to most electric locking requirements. The basic lock operation is identical to a standard Lockwood mortice lock with key override function. In addition to the standard lock operation, the electric mortice lock has a built-in solenoid which locks or unlocks the outside and/or inside handles when power is applied. A comprehensive range of monitoring functions are also available.

              Monitoring Functions
              Door secure: Lockwood has combined both a microswitch and a reed switch to signal door status information. The reed switch is activated when the door is in close proximity to a magnet mounted in the door jamb and a microswitch within the lock assembly indicates when the lock is deadlatched. Both of these signals are connected in series to give true door position indication.

              Request to Exit (RQE): Internal mircoswitches on both the right and left hand locking hubs provide the ability to monitor either inside or outside handle activation. This signal is generally used as a RQE function. However, the flexibility of the Lockwood lock allows on site selection of inside or outside handle monitoring. The RQE switch will always activate prior to the deadlatch microswitch. This ensures you never receive a false door forced alarm when requesting an exit via the internal handles.

              Key override monitoring: A parented adaptor assembly activates a microswitch when the key is rotated away from the home position. This switch will always activate prior to the deadlatch microswitch to enable the masking of alarms when a key is used to open the door.

              Flexibility: The lock assembly is field selectable as either a combination (inside and outside hubs), or as a vestibule (outside hub only), being locked by the solenoid. Both key override and request to exit (RQE) monitoring is selectable as normally open or normally closed with the RQE function also configurable as right or left hand. Locks are available for 12 volt, 24 volt or 48 volt applications in both fail-safe or fail-secure versions.
